dis@ccess is an innovative technological tool that
can be friendly used on a specific territory in order to improve
the living conditions of disabled people with mobility difficulty,
thus contributing to reducing both the physical and architectural
barriers and virtual ones connected with the use of technology.
dis@ccess is a information system based on mobile
GIS (Geographic Information System) for disabled people which includes
the use of interactive maps of the specified area connected with
a database containing information on accessibility to public buildings
and places of public interest (banks, post offices , theaters, cinemas,
worship sites etc.).
The application provides the following features:
• View of information on the accessibility of structures of
interest by the means of clear and immediate symbols and legends.
• Easy finding of a site of interest.
• Elaboration and display of the shortest barrier-free path
leading to a given structure.
All
information can be found on a map implemented in a WEB-GIS architecture
based on the techiques of Geographic Information Systems, so as
to give a topographical reference of easy access.
The system is accessible without any restriction via:
- personal computers,
- mobile phones,
- latest handhelds.
